Marios Monopolis is an Associate of the Firm. Mr. Monopolis’ practice includes admiralty and maritime litigation, business and civil matters, and False Claims Act (“Qui Tam”) litigation.
From January 26, 2012 through August 15, 2012, Mr. Monopolis is on a leave of absence in London, where he is interning in the Legal department of Steamship Mutual and at Holman Fenwick Willan.
Admiralty and Maritime Practice
Mr. Monopolis represents businesses and individuals involved in admiralty and maritime litigation in U.S. courts, and through co-counsel arrangements, in foreign courts. Mr. Monopolis assists clients with
● container leasing, including locating and recovering intermodal containers;
● vessel arrest and maritime attachment proceedings;
● asserting and enforcing maritime liens for providers of maritime necessaries;
● asserting and defending against personal injury and property damage claims; and
● maritime contracts.
Business and Civil Litigation Practice
Mr. Monopolis represents businesses and individuals involved in civil lawsuits in both federal and Maryland trial courts. In addition to general business disputes and complex civil litigation, Mr. Monopolis represents whistleblowers in False Claims Act (“Qui Tam”) actions. Mr. Monopolis also represents landlords and tenants in rental disputes.

Background
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Monopolis worked in the United States House of Representatives for Congressman Todd R. Platts (PA-19) as legislative correspondent and systems administrator, and for the Johns Hopkins University in the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts & Sciences Office of External Affairs as stewardship coordinator and campaign administrator.
Community Involvement
Mr. Monopolis is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Central Presbyterian Church in Towson, Maryland.
