Scot Morris is a partner of the Firm. In addition to assisting the Firm's clients with civil litigation matters, Mr. Morris represents clients in federal criminal cases and federal and state tax controversies. Mr. Morris has significant federal trial experience and has a wide range of experience in tax matters.
Background
Before joining Simms Showers, Mr. Morris served for six years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida, where he prosecuted a variety of criminal cases, with a special emphasis on tax and white-collar crimes. Among the many cases he prosecuted, Mr. Morris won the conviction of actor Wesley Snipes on criminal tax fraud charges.
Prior to becoming a federal prosecutor, Mr. Morris served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gary R. Jones, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Florida. Mr. Morris also served as an attorney-adviser for the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Morris began his legal career at Ober, Kaler, Grimes & Shriver, working as an associate attorney and assisting clients with tax, estate planning, and business matters.

Mr. Morris is a parishioner at St. Louis Catholic Church in Clarksville, Maryland. He is a member of the Planned Giving Committee and previously served on the Parish Council. Mr. Morris is also active in Scouting as an adult leader.
